Work Wear

Pant // Top // Jacket (similar) // Shoes // Sunnies // Earrings // Bag // Watch

Since leaving retail and entering the education world, I realized that I had to change my wardrobe (somewhat). I had to come to terms that leather leggings and over the knee boots may not be the most appropriate for sitting on the floor with first graders. So my mission was finding a way to make my dress more “teacher friendly” while keeping to my taste and personality. I did not want to invest a ton of money into many pieces, but rather choose wisely. I try to keep my tops pretty basic while adding my flare to the outfit through shoes, pants, and accessories. Since changing things up, it has hit me that I am not totally changing my style as much as I am just ‘toning’ it down a bit. I am still free to show off my fashion background (my undergrad is in fashion and masters is elementary ed.) which makes me happy and honestly more comfortable. Most of my dress pants come from Old Navy, Loft, Asos, and J Crew. These are my go to places and never seem to let me down. How do you spice up your everyday work wear!?

Valentine’s Day is a day to shower your special person in love, so gifts should be on point. I am a girl who does not normally go big on this day, but since this is our first year as a married couple we are going to make the effort in making it a special day. I have gone through and picked out some gifts that I know I would love to receive (hint, hint Daniel). Since this is a more fun holiday, I chose items that were very flirty and could be used year round. Anything red, pink, or even gold is a go to for V Day. So, gentlemen start looking now before it’s too late!

Whoever said that snow days were for kids was sorely mistaken. Receiving that, “school is canceled” call on Wednesday morning was still so exciting. I could barely go back to sleep because I had all those butterflies of knowing I did not have to get up and be an adult for the day. It was actually nice since I did have work to catch up on, but I also took advantage of the snow and decided to play and take pictures in it. Mind you, while I was taking these pictures I had roughly 15-20 children all bundled up and sledding staring at me. We were quickly in and out, but not before we took a minute to admire South City covered in fresh snow. And yes, I now know that heels in freezing snow was not the best idea.

Wedding Shoes

Since my Facebook page has been overloaded with brides purchasing their wedding dresses, I have been hit with numerous questions in regards to shoes to go with their gowns. I decided to create my little round up of shoes that I looked at and tried on when it came time to purchase my shoes. I felt like this is a weirdly personal purchase. I am someone who is frivolous with my shoe purchases, but when it came to this one, I was very emotional. This is not just a shoe you are going looking to be a go-to throw on. This is the shoes that you are wearing to make a huge commitment and to go with your once in a lifetime gown, so it needs to be special…….& comfortable. I probably sat at Nordstroms for hours on different occasions sifting through all of my options until I ultimately settled with these Valentino beauties. I was looking for a shoe that I would never purchase normally, so it was special and would stand out, and also something that I could wear all day long. These hit every mark on my list. The color was so fun and the heel height was perfect. To me, the shoes were the most important aspect of my wedding day look, besides the rings of course. I honestly would have been more happy wearing a simple black dress, but I’m sure that my mother and grandma would have disagreed. Below I linked some of the shoes that I tried on at my numerous visits to Nordies and hope that I could help in the big day shoe decision! Happy Wedding Planning!!!

I am drawn more to accessories than I am to clothes, I’ve been that way ever since I can remember. I truly believe that an accessory can elevate any outfit if it fits and this hat does that exactly. Hats are not my usual go to piece, but this one had me changing my tune. I love wearing it with a very minimal outfit just to give that extra casual vibe. I was drawn to this hat in particular because it was very similar to one that I had been eyeing for months that was over $300 and I managed to snag one for under $40! It’s a great piece  to just throw on to add that extra pop to your outfit or even just to cover up your bedhead.

ASOS is hands down my favorite retailer. Over half of my closet easily comes from there. They have a way of making shopping easy and effortless, sometimes too easy ;). I always know that I can trust their sizing and their shipping is crazy fast. I have recently become a member of theirs for only $29 a year and it comes with unlimited 2 day shipping! That is well worth it alone. One piece of clothing that I absolutely hate shopping for is denim. Nothing ever seems to fit right or the length is completely off. As a result, I have turned to ASOS for all of my denim needs and they have never once failed me. Every single pair of jeans that I have ever purchased from there fit perfectly and is always under $100. You can’t beat that! This pair of jeans is probably my favorite. They are so soft and comfortable, plus I love the extra wide flare at the bottom. I paired mine with a casual sweater, platform sandals, and a fab pair of sunnies to tie this look together. How would you guys wear these jeans!?

For months now, I have been searching for a pair of over the knee boots that had a great heel, color, and that were not $700. Turns out, it’s a lot more difficult than one would expect. I do a lot of selling on Poshmark and one day I was browsing through and came across these babies. They were originally over $200 and I managed to score them for $29! They are Jessica Simpson boots and I could not find them anywhere, so I was sure to link very similar pairs. When they arrived I was so nervous that they would kill my feet, but I was so wrong. These boots could be worn all day long and go with almost everything in my closet.  It’s a Win Win!

I am someone who very rarely wears color, at all. Pretty much the only color other than black, white, or gray that I own is oxblood. This is a color that I feel like I can wear very well and also feel comfortable in. I tend to have a very loud personality, so if I walk in wearing hot pink, it would just be too much. It’s all about compromises right!? So with sticking to my usual color scheme, I also like to be comfortable and this dress covers all of my bases. This dress can be worn with heels for a dressy evening or thrown on with leggings and boots to give a more casual vibe. There are very few items in my closet that can not be easily transitioned, so I like to keep things simple. This way, I know that I will always have numerous pieces to choose from, even though I constantly insist I have nothing to wear 😉  How would y’all style this dress?

I am definitely a bag lady, I can never get enough. I love them in all shapes, sizes and colors. I especially love them when they are versatile and I can bring them with me while doing pretty much anything. For my honeymoon to Europe this past summer, I was on the look out for a bag that I wouldn’t have to worry about carrying with me everywhere and being too much of a hassle. Then I came across this baby. She was absolutely perfect! It has adjustable straps, a zipper AND a snap (for security purposes) and it’s black, which was the ultimate winning detail for me. I was so afraid of not using this bag once I got home, but I honestly use it all the time. It is just so easy to carry around and surprisingly has so much room inside. I could see this being a go to one day when we have children.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I LOVE FLARE DENIM! I loved it when I was in 3rd grade obsessing over the Spice Girls and I love it now (still obsessing over Spice Girls). It is a silhouette that any shape and frame can benefit from. They actually make me look somewhat taller than 5ft 2in, barely. So pair my favorite style of denim with my favorite line, Paige, and I have myself the perfect match. I like to wear mine with a flowy top and a great pump or boot for that little extra height. Believe me, I need all I can get :). How do you wear this denim trend!?
