As soon as the weather turns the slightest to Fall, I immediately set out to find the sweaters that I will be living in for the next several months. My first stop is always Nordstrom for their selection of Free People and once again, it proved successful. the second I put this baby on I knew that it had to come home with me. It is so soft and can be worn with anything and everything. Plus the back (not pictured) of this sweater is slightly opened. Enough to make a statement, but not enough to be too much. With a tank underneath, it’s perfect! It comes in a variety of colors and I may already contemplating picking up one (or two) more! What are your favorite brands for sweaters?

In late June, my husband’s aunt asked me to a jewelry party. Of course, I had the initial reaction that we all do when invited to one of those events. Once she explained to me a little about the company, I have to admit, I was curious. I went not thinking that anything would really be my style, but I was wrong. I could have easily have walked out her front door with one of everything. The pieces were so beautiful and comprised of materials not normally worn. Then I learned more in-depth stories about the pieces, where they came from, who made them, and about the company. Noonday is a company that sources from third world countries and helps provide jobs, healthcare, schooling, and homes for those they employ. All the materials used are particular from those areas and have a story behind them. To me, this means that this is not just a necklace or bangle, but so much more. I may be wearing this necklace to work, but by me doing so I am helping in providing healthcare to women battling HIV and AIDS. How cool is that!? Beautiful jewelry AND a true benefit, how can you pass that up? I highly suggest you all check them out (click the jewelry link for direct access to website).

(Disclaimer: this room was pretty difficult to photograph and edit since it’s so dark)

This was one of my favorite rooms to create when completing our house. Every single room in our home is very light and bright, so I wanted to do something completely different in here. I was really aiming for a very Mad Men feel and I think I got pretty dang close. I just love how swanky it looks and all the dark colors. I think that If I were a room, this would be it. The background is dark with bright touches. While thinking of what I wanted, I decided to go with a deep navy paint with a matte finish. I did not want any kind of sheen or shine. When looking at the room, I think that the Prada sign and the light fixture really bring the whole room together. It will make me sad to leave this house one day, simply because of all the hard work and personal touches we have added throughout. Through the whole process, I have realized how much I love decorating. It’s like styling an outfit but on a grander scale.  This work has definitely been a labor of love and an amazing first home.

One trend that I have been obsessing over for this Spring and Summer is off the shoulder blouses/dresses. I feel like I catch myself ordering a new piece every week. They are just so flattering and fun to wear. I wore this exact outfit on Easter and got so many compliments, my favorite being from my grandma, “I wore something like that when I was your age!” As weird as that sounds, it was a total compliment coming from her because she’s always had the best style. I can’t wait to show y’all more of this style in the weeks to come! How do you guys feel about this new trend for the season!?

Sunday, we were driving around searching for a different spot to shoot some pictures. After driving around our neighborhood for a little bit, we found the most amazing painted wall. It’s crazy how we have driven past this so many times but never noticed it before. I know it seems silly, but to me this just shows how we really need to slow and take in all of our surroundings because they are truly beautiful. Once we spotted it I knew we had to stop. I feel like the background just makes this rather simple outfit pop so much and I love it! The white with the blues is so pretty to look at. This has become my go to combo for when I need to look decent, but not too nice. The top is such a great spin on a classic piece and easy to transition. I’m not even going to start on these jeans, because y’all already know how deep my love is for them….almost as wide as the bell bottoms 🙂

HAPPY FRI-YAY Y’ALL!

Yes, if you feel like you have seen this sweater before then you are correct! I loved this sweater in grey so much that I bought it in blush before it sold out. I am so guilty of buying multiples of a particular piece in different colors if I love it enough. To me, that speaks volumes of the product and company. If I am willing to buy something in more than one color, then that means it’s a quality product. I am not one to spend a ton of money on clothes, I’m more of an accessories lady, so if I see it meaningful to buy multiples then that’s a great thing! Although my husband may disagree :).

And let’s talk about these earrings. They. Are. Amazing. I am falling hard for tassels this season. Since January, I have probably purchased 5 different pairs. I just can’t seem to resist every time that Baublebar creates a new pair.

This weather in St. Louis during February has been insane. Wednesday we had a snow day and then Sunday I am wearing this! I just can’t seem to keep up with Mother Nature’s mood swings. This dress however is helping me ease the confusion a bit. I am all for comfort, but when comfort and style come together, it’s a beautiful thing. I have been against getting a denim dress for the longest time, until this one popped up in the sale section on ASOS. It does not have the same button vibe that most others do and that’s why I loved it. This will definitely be a repeater during the spring for sure.

Have you ever met someone and just felt like you were going to be the best of friends? That’s exactly how I felt about this dress. During the spring and summer, I live in comfy t-shirt/shirt dresses and sandals. When I put this one on after it arrived, I did not want to take it off. It feels just like wearing pajamas and who would hate that? I love pairing very simple dresses with block heel sandals like these to make it more transitional for different events. This could easily go from work to happy hour to dinner with just a change of shoes or even with these! Can’t wait to wear this all the time once the weather stays nice 🙂

The other weekend I had the pleasure of playing dress up in the new Kit & Ace location in Plaza Frontenac. I fell in love with everything as soon as I stepped foot within the store. The fabric, silhouettes, and color scheme is to die for. Everything feels as though it was made specifically for you and every piece is either black, white, or gray. So pretty much everything that I live for. I have been lusting for a new black button up and have not been able to find the right one, until this top. I love how they took such a classic piece and modernized it a bit. It’s flowy, loose, and the sleeves are super fun. This piece can be worn easily with trousers or jeans. The versatility is real with this one. I can’t wait for my next visit. (Side note: the staff was extremely helpful and very sweet the entire time!)

This fall and winter, I have been literally living in ponchos. I own to or three styles in multiple colors, yes, my obsession is that bad. They just go with everything and for every occasion, almost. You can throw them on with denim or leather leggings for an edgier look. They are also my go to for those days that I feel like just being comfortable at work and not dressing too structured. This is a trend that a really hope sticks around next fall/winter.
